St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children

Berkeley Building Company has been a godsend to St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children.  Emil Frei and his team have transformed our residential programs more than once through their talent, dedication, and expertise.

Most recently, Berkeley served as the lead general contractor–for our new Recreation Room project–entirely pro bono, allowing us to allocate more resources to our programs and services benefiting families!

Thanks to Berkeley’s extraordinary generosity as well as their beautiful construction, hundreds of children who each year call St. Mary’s home, now have a safe, warm place to run and play, and enjoy the everyday joys of childhood.”

BBC Completes Infrastructure Upgrades for Conservation Law Foundation

Berkeley Building Company recently completed upgrades for the Conservation Law Foundation at 62 Summer Street in Boston.

The project, completed in February 2019, involved upgrades to the infrastructure of CLF’s existing four-story wood framed building with masonry exterior, and included a new roof, an upgraded lobby to meet ADA compliance, and new/upgraded MEPs throughout.

This project was executed in a very tight urban setting – so tight that all deliveries and load outs had to be performed off hours.

Team members included Project Architect Jonathan Austin of Austin Architects, and BBC project Team members Al Charpentier, Sr. Project Manager, and Emil Frei-Howe, Superintendent.

“We have worked with Emil and Berkeley Building on many renovation projects at area Institutions and business spaces. Emil has provided exceptional service and was an integral team member throughout the design and construction process, providing meaningful feedback on pricing and logistics that was critical to the success of our projects and their workmanship was outstanding”

“I have worked with Berkeley Building Company over the years and they always go to great lengths to ensure that everyone who might be potentially impacted is properly informed. They are effective at anticipating problems and taking steps to avoid them. I can speak from firsthand experience that in the heat of a large-scale project, this trait is one I came to rely upon. Berkeley Building Company is a well run company and is amply capable of creativity.”
